Rolled metal products surface defects detection system

Against the backdrop of ever-increasing requirements for the finished products quality, the task of detecting the smallest defects in the flat products and pipes surface is increasingly in demand.

The use of optical triangulation is one of the possible methods for solving this problem. The high resolution of the CCD receiver and the high operation frequency of the triangulation 2D-scanners allows the detection of surface defects with an area of 2x2 mm.

The advantage of using triangulation is that the measurement of not just the area of detected defects, but also their depth/convexity is ensured during the monitoring. Thus, the result of the entire system operation is a three-dimensional map of the monitoring object, which displays the topology of each detected defect with an indication of its width, length and depth/convexity.
